doop doop redux by agent57 doop doop redux by agent57
Finished product from the sketches I did earlier. Now, I'm very happy with this... but Schmelzer wants more. I think he's just one of those guys. So maybe I'll do another one... with action! to wow him with. Except somehow I think he'd just find some other way it would fall short. I guess I'm okay with that, because it almost makes me want to try harder. Except I'm usually so sleep deprived in this class that... no, I don't.

Whatev. Like I said, quite happy. I'm putting it in traditional, because though I fooled around some with the background, the face is the fun part and that's watercolor.

Some references used, as with most of my caricature. Changed substantially, though. Hugh Laurie belongs to himself, House belongs to Fox, my hands belong to me. Please no takie!

Drugs!

Nicely captures the character's broody nature.

Hehe he's so darn gloomy but everyone loves him. Plus he's so witty you just can't help liking him.

We started a bird's eye view (not looking directly down, but at a little bit of an angle) landscape picture for a spread. I'm not sure what the exact proportion are, but it's skinnier than 11x17. I don't have any idea how finished it's supposed to be...

Awww, I wana draw House too, But I can't capture his rugged curves and crevases as well as you can.

LOL, I feel silly for typing that, but it's what poped in my head when I saw it!

YES, a yellow background! :boogie: I also like how his legs almost blend into a sillhouette at the bottom, along with the chair. (I am SURE I did not spell 'sillhouette' right.)

On the original watercolor version I had a black outline framing it, and I was going to do a yellow background but I chickened out at the last minute because the black was bleeding. I was in a rush, should have done the background wash first and all of that. I'm really amazed how different it looks with the bright bright yellow. It brings all of the colors out more.

(Well, that and the saturation function in PS...)

Thanks for the comment! I think you were only one l off on silhouette. (That word always gets me, too)

This rocks my socks! Seriously, House is my favorite non-cartoon show heh. Hugh Laurie is teh rockz0rz!

This inspires me to do that picture I mentioned of him playing that surgery game on the DS heh.

anyway, on to critique. nothing to critique actually! it looks awesome and I'm not just blowing smoke up your ass. I don't see anything I would change. the color choices are nice and bright, offsetting House's typically dour mood, and the linework is nice and crisp. Great job!

nice nice. you should probably put your name and the site in the bottom white area. or maybe on the top yellow area. but this looks spectacular (no one uses this word anymore)

I know that layout-wise I would not put the name/site name there (on the original I just have the initial-logo-thing) but I just up those there to make it (feebly) less steal-able.
